First, it may help to define what a “supper club” is exactly.

A “supper club” is, traditionally, a dining establishment that also functions as a social club. For visitors to Las Vegas, “entertainment” replaces the “social club” part with talent that only Sin City can provide.

Second, it helps to point out that The Mayfair Supper Club offers two distinct experiences: the normal supper club atmosphere throughout the week and the “after dark” revelry on Fridays and Saturdays after 11:00 pm.

While you get to choose from much of the same menus at both, they have two completely different vibes. This article is more about the After Dark impression.

Found inside the Bellagio (just off of the casino floor closest to the Strip), The Mayfair Supper Club combines a delicious meal and a generous drinks menu with a variety show that may rank with some of Vegas’ finest acts on the Strip.

After grabbing an ‘Orange Colored Sky’ (Bulleit Bourbon, Luxardo, Orange Bitters, Demerara) or a ‘(Hey!) Pachuco’ (Xicaru Mezcal, Puree of the Day, Lime Beer) from the drink menu, you’ll get to dreaming about dinner between the acts on stage.

Ora King Salmon, Pappardelle Pasta… or my pick the mouth-watering Prime Filet Mignon with Black Truffle Sauce. The Maine Lobster Thermidor (mushroom duxelles, Gruyere, Buttered Leeks, Crispy Potatoes) also comes waltzing through the dining room more than a few times during the evening.

The Mayfair also boasts beautifully chilled shellfish and a selection of sushi and caviar service for those who are interested.

The meal was wonderful. Add in an incredible view of the Bellagio Fountains (if you’re seated near the windows) and the meal becomes spectacular.

Ambiance

Here’s where my only “pause” comes in for The Mayfair Supper Club.

The dining room may be one of the prettiest restaurant interiors in all of Las Vegas, which is definitely saying something. The bar is magnificent and the staff is attentive and well-trained.

During regular supper club evenings incredible singers accompanied by a live band belt out jazzy numbers and heartfelt ballads while a mix of entertainers amaze.

For the After Dark evenings, the area turns into a pseudo-night club with a live DJ, an amazing saxophone player (at least on the evening we were there), a range of acts including a bit of comedy and a contortionist… and dancers with neon thongs.

Personally, though the dancers, as talented as they are… and they are, this is nothing against them personally… When you’re trying to enjoy a nice meal with club music blasting and a stranger’s exposed backside is just a few feet from your filet mignon, well, it just does it a disservice to both of them equally.

The After Dark portion can’t seem to decide what it wants to be: A late night club, or a classed-up striptease. Yes, I can hear a younger generation collectively calling me a “Boomer”, but I’ll ignore it.

This one comes down to personal taste.

Others will be delighted by it. Personally, I’ll definitely go back to the Mayfair Supper Club, but it’ll be during the hours when the neon underwear is covered by sequined gowns.

At least until after dessert is served.
